From a broken zip line, a teenager in the Saxon town of Rathmannsdorf fell eight meters into the depths – and suffered serious injuries. As the Dresden police announced, the rope broke during his ride on Wednesday evening.

Investigations for negligent bodily injury

The rope was torn when the student was exactly above the middle of the gorge, the mountain rescue service said. The 16-year-old from Lake Constance was therefore with his school class on a class trip and had to be pulled out of the gorge by means of a so-called crevasse rescue.

The police are now investigating the operator of the plant for negligent bodily injury. Emergency services took the teenager to a hospital with a rescue helicopter.
