Anna Mae Bullock is born into a poor family in the southern United States. From a young age, Anna Mae has sung in local church choirs.

1956

She meets blues musician Ike Turner in St. Louis and she quickly joins the group Kings of Rhythm.

Ike changes her name and renames her Tina Turner. For twenty years, they formed the duo Ike & Tina Turner Revue and made more than twenty albums.
