Changchun, May 5 (Reporter Lv Shengnan) Cai Baofeng, deputy director of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jilin Province, introduced on the 22nd that the quality of the ecological environment in Jilin Province has maintained a good level for 22 consecutive years. By 19, typical ecosystems, wild animal and plant species under national key protection, rare and endangered wild animals and plants and their habitats (in situ) will be fully protected.

May 5 is the International Day for Biological Diversity. On the same day, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jilin Province held a press conference to introduce the progress of biodiversity conservation and interpret the Implementation Opinions of Jilin Province on Further Strengthening Biodiversity Conservation.

Jilin Province is one of the most biodiverse provinces in northern China, with forests, grasslands, rivers, lakes, swamps, farmlands and other terrestrial ecosystems on earth. There are more than 4900,4000 species of wild animals and more than <>,<> species of wild plants.

Cai Baofeng introduced that Jilin Province has continuously promoted the construction of nature reserves, and built a nature reserve system with the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park as the main body, nature reserves as the basis, and various natural parks as supplements. Continue to increase the intensity of ex situ conservation, actively establish a relatively complete ex situ conservation system such as botanical gardens, wildlife rescue and breeding bases and germplasm resource banks, and the ex situ conservation system is becoming more and more perfect, becoming an effective supplement to in situ conservation, and a variety of endangered wild animals and plants have been protected and restored.

According to reports, Jilin Province has also coordinated the implementation of key ecological projects such as the connection of rivers and lakes in the west, the protection of natural forests in the east, the protection of black soil in the central region, the comprehensive treatment and protection of the Songhua River, the Liaohe River and Chagan Lake, the conservation of biodiversity, and the ecological protection and restoration of landscapes, forests, lakes and grasses in Changbai Mountainous Areas, which have improved the quality and stability of the ecosystem.

Cai Baofeng introduced that after years of efforts, Jilin Province has 5 "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains" practice and innovation bases, 9 national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties, and 22 provincial-level ecological counties, and the establishment work is in the forefront of the three northeastern provinces.

In December 2022, Jilin Province issued the Implementation Opinions on Further Strengthening Biodiversity Conservation. It is proposed that by 12, we will continue to promote biodiversity investigation and assessment in key areas such as Changbaishan Biodiversity Conservation Priority Area and Songnen Plain Biodiversity Conservation Priority Area, and build a province-wide biodiversity monitoring network and a relatively stable spatial pattern of biodiversity conservation. By 2025, policies, regulations, systems, standards and monitoring systems related to biodiversity conservation will be fully improved, important shelter forest systems will be fully connected, and healthy, stable, high-quality and efficient forest, grassland, river, lake and wetland ecosystems will be fully completed.

Cai Baofeng said that Jilin Province will strengthen the protection of key species such as the Siberian tiger, the Northeast leopard and the Chinese merganser duck, as well as important ecosystems such as forests, grasslands and wetlands, and accelerate the restoration of species populations and habitats through the implementation of ecological projects such as the integrated protection and restoration of landscapes, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands and sands, green beauty and Jilin, forest and grass wet connection, and green water corridors.
