Beijing, May 5 (Zhongxin Net) -- "'Red Jade Green Jade' uses jade as a metaphor for people. Each of us is like an ordinary rough stone, as long as we polish it carefully, carefully carve it, and insist on sticking to it, we can have our own value. Recently, in an interview with Chinanews.com, Nian Yunhua, the chief choreographer of the dance drama "Red Jade Green Jade", said.

The large-scale original dance drama "Red Jade Green Jade", produced by the China Coal Mine Cultural Troupe, premiered at the Erqi Theater in Beijing from May 5 to 5. The play is a 7 large-scale stage play and work creation grant project of the National Arts Fund.

In a dance drama, how do actors shape characters? How to tell a story in dance language? To this end, the reporter interviewed the main creators of "Red Emerald Green Jade" to restore the creative process of this drama.

"Red Jade Green Jade": Using jade as a metaphor for people

Overall, some of the dance moves in "Red Emerald" are very soft, and some are more angular.

Not only that, Nian Yunhua said that even the costumes and choreographies will have the texture of stones, which is all in the hope of finding the aesthetic characteristics of "Red Jade Green Jade" from the idea of performance, so that the "rough stone charm" of the entire dance drama runs throughout, reflecting the intrinsic connection between jadeite and people.

He introduced that "Red Emerald Green Emerald" is mainly divided into six acts: the prologue "Emerald Bird" and "Emerald City", "Emerald Tears", "Emerald Edge", "Emerald Road", "Emerald Mountain" and "Emerald Heart", as well as the epilogue "Emerald Love".

Each act tells a rich story. For example, "Jade Edge", there is a pas de deux under the ginkgo tree, Duan Fei gave the carved jade wind chimes to Cin Xiaoyu, and Cin Xiaoyu was also able to open the knot and understand the other party's intentions.

"The ending of the whole drama actually wants to say that after experiencing a lot of hardships and baptisms, everyone must rely on hardworking hands to get rich, return to a peaceful state, and do their work seriously and attentively. Find the meaning of a good life. He said.

Nian Yunhua explained that "Red Jade Green Jade" uses jade as a metaphor for people, "just like ordinary rough stones, polished and carved to give it meaning." Each of us is like a piece of jade, as long as we polish it with our hearts, stick to our original intentions, and carve our lives, we can reflect our social value. ”

Leave room for the viewer's imagination

"Dance has white space, always gives the audience room for imagination, and that's where dancing is lovely." Nian Yunhua said.

In terms of dance vocabulary, rhythm and costume styling, "Red Emerald" not only has national symbols, but also enhances them on this basis, and further uses national elements and modern expressions.

For example, in "Horse Gang Dance", the actors use body language and form to simulate the movements of horses, showing them walking with weight, and trying to lower their bodies, so that the audience can feel that the horse team is carrying a lot of things and walking hard.

Nian Yunhua found that when the horse gang transported goods, in order to prevent mules or horses from escaping, they would all tie them together one by one with ropes. When "Red Emerald Green Jade" demonstrates this, it ties a bamboo basket to the actor's arm, symbolizing the "horse donkey" to better simulate the shape of a mule.

In this way, the requirements for actors will be relatively high. He said that because the intensity of this dance movement is relatively large, during the rehearsal process, the basket was broken a lot, and he could only ask the teacher in charge of the costume props to make up for it in time, and after repeated training, he finally overcame the difficulties.

How do dance dramas shape characters?

Young dancer Song Jie plays inch Xiaoyu in the dance drama. In her opinion, Cin Xiaoyu has a distinct personality, with a bold energy, a very flexible personality, and a little naughty, and is a very three-dimensional character.

In terms of personality, Song Jie and Cin Xiaoyu are somewhat similar, "I myself am a national dancer and have more than 20 years of stage experience. This also gave me some help and made me a little more relaxed when creating the character of Xiaoyu. ”

Repeated rehearsals do not make Song Jie feel boring, on the contrary, she can always find the freshness of shaping characters, "In the processing of dance movements, my interpretation method and rhythm will change with my state, and I try to do better." ”

Young dancer Zhu Han plays the male protagonist Duan Fei in "Red Jade Green Jade", and he is also the executive director. Zhu Han said that he studied classical dance and rarely appeared in dance dramas with national characteristics, and this participation in "Red Emerald Green Jade" used classical, ethnic, modern and other ways to perform, which can be said to be a process of challenging oneself.

The "Bibao Dance" and "Mabang Dance" in the dance drama all left a deep impression on Zhu Han. Referring to the tricks of shaping characters, he said that every time an actor comes on stage to create a role, he must empty himself, forget the role he once played, and redesign it on this basis to create a new, three-dimensional character.

A comprehensive art

To some extent, stage art is a comprehensive art, which tests the tacit understanding between various departments, and even when the lights are on and when the music is sounding, it needs to be coordinated. The same goes for Red Emerald Green.

This dance drama gathers the famous screenwriter Jiang Mingchu, chief choreographer Nian Yunhua, executive director Cui Tao, Zhu Han, Wang Peixian, composer Yue Shaopeng, Zhang Quanwu, stage design Meng Qin, lighting design Wang Yang, costume design Yang Donglin, makeup styling design Jia Lei, multimedia design Hu Tianji, sound consultant Ma Xin, sound design Zhang Haikun, prop design Wang Jiang, poster design Zhang Hongke, outstanding young choreographer and director Zhou Wencai, Li Yanchao, Shi Tao, Wang Shiru and other main creators.

In addition, "Red Jade Green Jade" is starring young dancers Zhu Han and Song Jie, with Song Yang, Li Yimeng, Pei Ruoying and others as executive rehearsals, and dancers of the China Coal Mine Cultural Troupe and young dancers of the Dance Drama Department of the Central Academy of Drama jointly performed.

Composer Yue Shaopeng has collaborated in-depth with Nian Yunhua and Jiang Mingchu many times, and this time he was also invited to join the main creative team of "Red Jade Green Jade" and created a lot of impressive pieces for this dance drama.

"I used some ethnic minority music materials in western Yunnan for this composition, but in the dance drama, it is already a classical Chinese rhythm. The creative technique is also a modern concept, not a simple superposition of mountain song minor keys. At the same time, minimalism and symphony complement each other. Yue Shaopeng said.

For example, he said that the Yi "sea vegetable cavity" music used in the "Bracelet Dance" section is used as the motivation for creation, but the melodic rhythm is very modern and fashionable, and it also has a more Chinese classical aesthetic. The material of "Men's Horse Gang Dance" comes from the "horse chasing tune" in western Yunnan, using the composition and soundtrack techniques of creating film music, the music is changeable, the transformation is faster and more, and the dynamic contrast is strong.

Nian Yunhua said that in order to facilitate the audience to understand the story told by "Red Emerald", subtitles will be set up on the scene to give an introduction, and I hope that the audience can come to the scene to feel the charm of the dance drama. (End)
