The subway station will be marked with facilities such as mother and baby rooms and AEDs

Beijing New Edition of Local Standards for Rail Transit Passenger Transport Signs is open for comments

In recent years, as the city's subway network has become more and more dense, passengers need to consider more and more things when riding the subway: which subway exit to exit from, where to transfer to other lines... These need to be clearly identified by subway signs. However, the city's current local standards for rail transit passenger transport signs were formulated 7 years ago, which can no longer meet the rail transit operation in the context of today's large passenger flow. A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission yesterday that the new version of the local standards for Beijing rail transit passenger transport signs is being publicly solicited for comments on the official website of the Municipal Transportation Commission. The new version of the standard adds examples of location signs for facilities such as third toilets, mother and baby rooms, and AEDs that have gradually become popular in recent years, providing passengers with more scientific guidance.

Data show that during the "172th Five-Year Plan" period, Beijing's new operating mileage reached 9.727 kilometers, reaching 1377 kilometers, and the highest number of passengers on weekdays exceeded <>.<> million, ranking first in the country. Beijing must adopt extraordinarily networked operation measures in a timely manner to ensure citizens' travel needs. Rail transit has played an important role in alleviating traffic congestion in Beijing and ensuring green travel. In the context of large passenger flow, rail transit passenger sign system is very important for rail transit operation.

The city's rail transit passenger sign system has existed for a long time. The current standard is the Beijing local standard "DB2009/T 10.14 Public Transport Passenger Signs Part 2010: Rail Transit", which was issued on October 1, 1 and implemented on January 11, 657, which is the earliest rail transit passenger sign design and setting specification in China. The first revision was made in 2 and implemented on April 2, 2015. It standardizes and guides the design, construction and management of the passenger sign system of Beijing urban rail transit, and plays a positive role in reasonably guiding passengers to enter and exit the station and transfer, and ensuring the safety of station operation. However, in the context of large passenger flow, it has become difficult to meet the demand, so it has been revised.

In recent years, with the operation of new subway lines, service facilities such as third toilets, mother and baby rooms, and AEDs have gradually become popular. The draft incorporates some common logo patterns for convenience service facilities.

The Draft Opinion requires that in the station space schematic map, various facilities such as entrances and exits, customer service centers, ticket sales, information, elevators, stairs, barrier-free facilities, toilets, maternity and baby rooms, AEDs and convenience stores should be marked, and "You are here" and the north arrow should be marked. The main image should be in the form of a three-dimensional drawing. The Beiqing News reporter noticed that the new version of the logo is bright and very eye-catching. For example, the AED logo is designed in orange-red for easy identification by passengers.

At the same time, the Draft Opinion clarifies that the neighborhood guidance map around subway stations should indicate the location of stations, entrances and exits, barrier-free elevators and important information related to transportation around stations, such as water systems, green spaces, main roads, secondary roads, landmark buildings, bus stops and taxi stations, etc., and mark "You are here" and north arrow. The radius of the main chart annotation area should be 500 meters, which can be appropriately increased or reduced according to the surrounding conditions of the station. Bus route information can be created independently for easy replacement.

With the gradual standardization of subway operations, Beijing is also constantly improving passenger rules and clarifying prohibited matters. In May 2019, the revised Beijing Rail Transit Passenger Code was officially released and implemented, according to the code, eating and drinking in the subway is an uncivilized riding behavior, and if discouraged and discouraged, the subway operator has the right to refuse to provide boarding services.

In response to the new regulations in recent years, the new version of the standard has updated and adjusted the reminder signs. "Prohibition signs" mainly include prohibition of carrying dangerous goods, prohibition of smoking, prohibition of leaning, prohibition of chasing and fighting, prohibition of begging, prohibition of eating, prohibition of entering holes, prohibition of climbing, prohibition of jumping, prohibition of using trolleys, prohibition of pets, prohibition of littering, prohibition of selling, no external sounds, no lying down, no hanging, and no long-term stay. Through a signage system, passengers can clearly prohibit things.
