The matador de toros, businessman and Mexican politician Rafael Ortega Blancas has died at 53 years of age at the Saint Geoge Clinic (United States), after being admitted for five days as a result of a sudden stroke he suffered when he was swimming in the pool of the hotel where he was staying with his family last Thursday, reports Mundotoro.
According to Gentlx, sources consulted close to the Ortega Blancas family, confirmed that the also former local deputy of Morena, was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), intubated, waiting for him to react by himself, debating between life and death, until finally this afternoon the sad outcome occurred.
Rafael Ortega was in critical condition and intubated in the Intensive Care Unit of the aforementioned clinic waiting for his brain to respond after he fainted last Thursday he swam in the pool after going for a run as he used to in a hotel stay with his family and children, who were going to participate in a triathlon test this Sunday.
The world of the bull is shocked by this unexpected loss of what was one of the leading matadors of Mexico in the nineties. Born in Apizaco (Tlaxcala), Ortega debuted as a bullfighter in Huamantla in August 1986. It was presented at the Plaza de toros México on October 4, 1987, with the steer "Marchantito" of the livestock of Piedras Negras alternating with José Luis Herros and Edgar Bejarano.
Three years later, Ortega took the alternative on December 23, 1990 in the bullring of Puebla (Mexico) with Manolo Arruza as godfather and David Silveti as witness of ceremony, with the bull 'Brillantito', by Reyes Huerta. He confirmed his doctorate at La Plaza México on September 23, 1993 with El Geno as godfather and José Luis Herros as witness. The bull was called Azuceno, by Mariano Ramírez.
