We will study in close collaboration with the FSF (Senegalese Football Federation, editor's note) the specifications of the organization of the CAN 2027, "said Amadou Ba Wednesday, May 3. He added: "If the conditions are met, I will submit Senegal's nomination." Amadou Ba announced that the project has already been validated by the President of the Republic.

We have made diplomatic arrangements for Senegal's candidacy to be submitted as soon as possible, said Yankhoba Diatara's successor. After Senegal 92, the time has come, in view of the exceptional results of Senegalese football in recent times, to organize for a second time an African Cup in our country and to further significantly improve the level of our infrastructure and sports equipment.

Senegal has until 23 May 2023 to submit the final application

So far, four nominations have been submitted to CAF: Egypt, Botswana, Algeria, in addition to a joint bid from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. These countries have until 23 May 2023 to submit their final application.

According to the specifications established by the Confederation of African Football, candidate countries must have at least 6 to 8 stadiums that meet specific criteria in terms of capacity, quality of the pitch, changing rooms, lighting... But for now, Senegal has only two venues that meet these standards: the Abdoulaye-Wade stadium in Diamniadio, inaugurated in February 2022, and the Lat-Dior stadium in Thiès.

Former Sports Minister Yankhoba Diatara was planning to build a new stadium in the northern city of St. Louis. It also planned to undertake the renovation of the Aline-Sitoe-Diatta stadium in Ziguinchor, the Lamine Guèye stadium in Kaolack and the Ely Manel Fall stadium in Diourbel. Work on the rehabilitation of the emblematic Léopold-Sédar-Senghor stadium in Dakar, impassable for several years, has already begun.

After its first African championship title won in February 2022 and following a participation in the 2022 World Cup, Senegal continues to display its ambitions.
