Invited on Europe 1 this Monday, May 1, 2023 in "Culture Media", Jarry confided on his incredible experience in "Rendez-vous in unknown land". The comedian was invited by Raphaël Casbianca to participate in the 28th issue of the show, filmed in Greenland. Together, they went to meet the Inughuit. A moment rich in emotions for Jarry, who was "very afraid" to talk to them about his homosexuality...

Jarry will never forget this experience. The comedian recently flew to Greenland, to meet the Inughuit people, for an issue of the show Rendez-vous en terre inconnue, broadcast Tuesday, May 2, 2023 on France 2. Invited in Culture Médias this Monday morning to talk about his trip, Jarry explains that he was stressed as soon as he arrived at the airport for a very specific reason: he was "very afraid" of the moment when he was going to reveal to his hosts his homosexuality, because he had planned not to lie about it...

"I really wanted to be myself"

"When I agreed to do Rendez-vous in unknown land, it was for me a parenthesis that I wanted sincere (...) I really wanted to be myself and not leave as a comedian, but leave as a person. (...) Having seen the show, I know they ask questions like 'do you have a wife, children...?' I wanted to tell the truth. I figured I'd meet them, but they'd also meet me. I was very scared. I wondered what was the point of view of the Inughuit," he confides to the microphone of Philippe Vandel.

"In France, some got up, but to leave"

Upon his arrival in Greenland, Jarry explained to his hosts that he lived with a man and that they had two children together. A great silence settled after his announcement... Then, an Inughuit stood up to hug the comedian, leading the others to do the same. "When they get up and hug me, it breaks me in two. They will show me affection, something they do not do in their daily lives. At that moment, they understood how important it was for me that they knew who I was, "says Jarry who was deeply "upset" by their reaction. The comedian confides with emotion that he would have liked his entourage to react in the same way at the time he came out. "In France, I would have liked to have had this kind of reaction, for these people to stand up and hug me. Some got up, but to leave," laments the artist.
