On April 4, the second event of the series of academic activities of "Scholars from Both Sides of the Strait" held by the Chinese Cultural Institute and Xiamen University was held in Beijing. Sun Kezhuang, director of the Office of the Chinese Cultural Institute, said in his speech that the purpose of the series of academic exchange activities of "Face-to-Face for Scholars from Both Sides of the Straits" is to deepen the interaction between scholars on both sides of the Straits and promote the joint promotion of Chinese culture between the two sides of the Straits.

Chinese culture is the common "root" and "soul" of compatriots on both sides of the strait and the spiritual bond that binds compatriots on both sides of the strait. Compatriots on both sides of the strait are an inseparable family linked by blood. Family harmony and happiness, social prosperity and stability, peace and tranquility in the Taiwan Strait, and national unity and rejuvenation are the common aspirations of compatriots on both sides of the strait, and expanding and deepening cross-strait exchanges and cooperation is the common aspiration of compatriots on both sides of the strait.

【Commentary】During the event, Professor Yin Cunyi of the School of Public Administration of Tsinghua University, Professor Ding Renfang of the Department of Political Science of National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan and other scholars carried out exchanges on "cross-strait economic and industrial exchanges and cooperation". Yin Cunyi said that in recent years, the implementation of various policies on the mainland to benefit Taiwan and the people has provided broad space and huge opportunities for the development of the vast number of Taiwan enterprises.

Taiwan enterprises in the magnificent tide of cross-strait economic and industrial cooperation, they have undergone very tremendous changes, originally when we talk about Taiwan enterprises, we all say that Taiwan is mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, but now Taiwan has formed a number of world-class large enterprises. How did these Taiwan-funded enterprises grow from small and medium-sized enterprises? It is completely in the mainland market, as well as the cooperation of various factor resources on the mainland, manpower, land, scientific and technological talents, and preferential (policy) support, which makes them grow.

Zhong Yan, director and researcher of the Academic Committee of the Shanghai Institute of East Asian Studies, took Kunshan, Jiangsu Province as an example, and specifically introduced some of the work done by Kunshan in cross-strait industrial cooperation.

One is to actively promote the integration of Taiwan-funded enterprises into the mainland's industrial supply chain. Second, Kunshan provides a very good and equal treatment of government services. In the equal treatment service, including the acquisition of land, including the registration of enterprises, including Taiwan compatriots' application for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science Foundation and a series of other fund projects, measures have been adopted to treat Taiwan compatriots equally. At the same time, Kunshan has provided financial and policy support for Taiwan-funded enterprises to participate in the internal and external circulation of the mainland economy.

Ding Renfang, professor of the Department of Political Science at Taiwan's Cheng Kung University, said that cross-strait economic and trade exchanges over the past 30 years have brought about more extensive and richer interactive exchanges in various fields, and more and more young people from Taiwan have come to the mainland for development.

Many of our young people have come to the mainland to develop, and how much influence do young people who come here have on Taiwan's youth? We need to know what the path of influence is. In the future, we still have to think more about how we can cooperate to promote cross-strait peaceful development, how we can make more efforts, how can we expand the peace dividend, and let more people feel the benefits of cross-strait economic and trade to Taiwan.

【Commentary】Cai Shifeng is from Taiwan, graduated from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and taught at Hubei University of Economics. He said that with the improvement of institutional guarantees such as employment and medical treatment for young people in the mainland, more young people in Taiwan will be willing to work and live in the mainland.

Cai Shifeng, Associate Professor, School of Economics and Trade, Hubei University of Economics

Many local (Taiwanese) local Ph.D. graduates can't find a job, like we will go back and tell them that the mainland of the motherland has a vast platform, and they may be willing to come to the mainland to work. In this way, gradually cross-strait exchanges and cooperation will penetrate more and more into the hearts of young people, and I think this is a very good thing.
