Netflix has announced this Thursday the first project of Álex de la Iglesia for the streaming platform. The director of The Day of the Beast, The Crimes of Oxford and The Witches of Zugarramurdi, has created with Jorge Guerricaechevarría his first miniseries for Netflix. With a script by Pablo Tébar and Jorge Valdano, 1992 will be directed by Álex de la Iglesia himself, the platform reports in a statement.

The new fiction of the director of The Community will revolve around mysterious murders in which the same pattern is always repeated: all the victims have been burned and next to the bodies appears a doll of Curro, the iconic mascot of the Expo '92 in Seville.

In the words of Álex de la Iglesia: "1992 is a thriller that mixes suspense and political intrigue and that takes us back to a key moment in the recent history of our country that many of us keep in our memories".

Filming will soon begin in Seville.
