Lola, 19, was a hit at the blind auditions of "The Voice". Praised by all the coaches, who loved her cover of the song "Imagine love" by Juliette Armanet, the young woman chose to leave in the Vianney team. This Saturday evening, she will sing as a trio for the second stage of the competition: the battles. Interview.

You tried twice to participate in The Voice Kids, without success. But you still tried your luck again...

I absolutely wanted to try my luck again because it was a childhood dream. I told myself that I had to go and that it didn't matter if I wasn't caught. In the end, it was the right one!

Why did it work now and not before?

I think I just wasn't ready. I didn't have the shoulders yet to sing like that on stage. I took singing lessons with private teachers at the conservatories of Draguignan and Nice. Above all, I learned to have a minimum of self-confidence to be able to go on stage of The Voice and sing in front of five stars of French song (editor's note: Vianney, Zazie, Bigflo and Oli, Amel Bent).

You are a student in a prestigious music school, the "Music Academy International" in Nancy. An ideal CV for a candidate of The Voice but which could also turn against you... Aren't you afraid of being too academic?

I was afraid of that before embarking on the adventure because it is true that we are taught to be very rigorous and to achieve perfection. Finally, I realize that I might not be in The Voice if I hadn't had all these singing lessons. That's how I also learned how to interpret a piece and how to put emotion into it. Before, I had a lot of trouble getting out of the original version.

You are one of this season's favourite candidates. Your interpretation of Juliette Armanet's Imagining Love seduced all coaches and viewers...

This song brought me luck. I discovered her with my mother and she followed me throughout the stages of The Voice, from castings to blind auditions. At first, the chairs did not turn over and I was very afraid for the rest of the adventure...

The coaches were actually enjoying your performance, which was very touching. Why did you choose Vianney?

Vianney was not my first choice at all, I thought I was going to go with Zazie or Bigflo and Oli. But he was the one who knew how to put words on what I could not express myself. It was magical.

How was your coaching with him to prepare for tonight's battles?

I had a big stress during the coaching around the piano because I ended up with Morgan, the brother of Mister Mat (editor's note: last season's finalist). I was also destabilized because Vianney was very discreet towards me, I did not really know where to put myself. He didn't say anything negative to me and it disturbed me because there were still a lot of things I had to work on. I said to myself: "He has forgotten me a little, I'm not here".

What do you expect from The Voice?

I wish I could release my compositions, like Mentissa (editor's note: finalist of the tenth season). His journey inspires me a lot. And I hope Vianney will write me a song one day (editor's note: Vianney wrote for Mentissa the song Et bam, which propelled his career).
