In an interview with the podcast "Heart of the Matter", Madison De La Garza, aka Juanita Solis in "Desperate Housewives" opened up about the cyberbullying she suffered during the series. The actress, who was only a child at the time, was deeply marked by all these hateful messages and developed eating disorders.

She played for several years the unforgettable Juanita Solis, the daughter of Gabrielle and Carlos, in Desperate Housewives. If Madison De La Garza would like (like all fans) that the cast reunite for a comeback of the hit series, her experience was not so rosy ...

A grossophobic scenario

At the time, the young actress was only six years old and played wonderfully the role of little Juanita, a turbulent and raw child of formwork. Small downside: Desperate Housewives mocked the physique of the little girl, putting it in opposition to that of her mother Gabrielle Solis, beautiful and thin. "My character's whole joke was that Eva (Longoria) was this model of thinness and beauty, and her daughter was just the opposite," De La Garza said in an interview with the Heart of the Matter podcast.

"I hope you die because you're so fat"

The script of Desperate Housewives has fed the hateful and grossophobic comments that the actress has received for years on social networks. This harassment deeply marked Madison De La Garza who developed eating disorders. "It was like they wanted me to die because of my appearance. It was just horrible, like 'ugly and fat cow' or 'I hope you get cancer and die because you're so fat,'" she recalls fondly.

"It was literally impossible to stop me from seeing these things"

Despite her young age, Madison De La Garza managed to go online. "My mom had no idea I saw these things, that I was reading these things, because I was very, very sneaky about it. I don't blame him at all. It was literally impossible to stop me from seeing these things," she explains in the podcast.

The interpreter of Juanita Solis ensures that the production team was certainly aware of the cyberharassment she was experiencing but that no one "ever said anything".

Madison De La Garza was nevertheless able to count on the unwavering support of her on-screen partner, Eva Longoria. "She did everything she could to make me feel considered," says the 21-year-old. The interpreter of Juanita Solis is now much better: she has overcome her eating disorders and her addiction to alcohol...
