• TV Mass poisoning on MasterChef 11: "We're sorry. It is an absolutely exceptional case in these 11 years"

In 11 years of MasterChef everything has been lived and seen. Love stories, hate stories, confrontations, reconciliations, bad vibes, also good, aspirants who entered leaving out their future fatherhood, but never, never, never what happened last night. Larraitz, the aspiring Basque protagonist of practically all the programs broadcast until last night of MasterChef 11 had a secret. A secret that had changed her completely: Larraitz had learned in the house where the aspirants live during the three months of recording that she was pregnant.

Just like Shine Iberia, the producer of Masterchef, should start considering a sequel to MasterChef as a Turkish soap opera. Of course plot has to give and take. Never before in the history of culinary talent has the good news happened. In fact, pregnancies and future fatherhood have always been left out. Contestants who have entered with their pregnant women -Eneko, of this edition, for example- there have been many, but that an aspirant will find out after entering MasterChef that she is pregnant neither in this MasterChef nor in any.

Mass poisoning on MasterChef 11: "We're sorry. It is an absolutely exceptional case in these 11 years"

The truth is that something happened to Larraitz. Between the fourth and fifth programs, broadcast the first on Sunday and the second last night, the attitude of the Basque had taken a 180-degree turn. Since Masterchef 11 began, Larraitz has been one of the most warrior, quarrelsome and, yes, also critical contestants. Her alliance with Luca, the tiktoker of MasterChef 11, and her bad vibes from the first program with Jotha put the spotlight on her from minute one. A woman of character, of great character, Larraitz did not shut up and if she had to say things for the brave, she was the bravest.

Until last night, until the first test of the first part of program 5 of MasterChef 11. Something had changed. Larraitz was completely out of culinary talent. I wasn't focused, or worried about cooking, or strong for anything, for absolutely nothing. Something happened to the waitress of Barakaldo, something that only her companions, with whom she had been living for only 5 weeks, knew. But only them.

Larraitz's secret in MasterChef 11

The judges noticed from the first test, but it was not until the second when the alarms went off. In the first test of the night of MasterChef 11 the aspirants had to prepare dishes composed of traditional ingredients of Italian, Spanish and Japanese cuisine. Although it was a test in which practically everyone failed, since few understood the rules, Larraitz's behavior was different.

Diners had to prepare two dishes of their elaborations. One that the judges would try on the kitchens and another that former Masterchef contestants waiting in the MasterChef guest lounge would try. The judges' tasting was a silent tasting. They tasted the dishes, released a "seen" and the next. When they arrived at Larraitz, although they had gone through many reactions that did not augur well for them, they were surprised that the Barakaldo waitress had stayed in a simple rice with meat. The Basque was not even able to give a name to her dish and chose a simple "Rice".

"It's that I'm not very inspired... It didn't occur to me... It's that inspiration didn't come to me... Surely it will go to elimination, one more, "said Larraitz who in this first test already knew that she was pregnant, but that she decided not to say anything to the judges or the program and endure the downpour. Larraitz, along with seven of his teammates -Leti, Ana, Tuki, Sergio, Laura, Jhota and Lluís- took the black apron and direct to the elimination test, although, despite his apathy and reluctance, it was not the worst of the test.

The award went to Tuki, who did not understand the test or manage to prepare a dish that was in conditions. If Larraitz doesn't get to say she's pregnant in the elimination test, I'm pretty sure the one who left MasterChef last night would have been Tuki. The plate of the first Tuki test was a disaster, the worst, but the elimination test...

In fact, the first test opened more than one wound, for example Jotha's wounds. The Leonese DJ has shown from the first program that he is not going to shut up a single one. He does not care that his teammates warn him that better close his mouth that "they are going to give you pa' the hair", it does not matter if he takes them folded, Jotha did not shut up with Larraitz, he did not shut up with Luca and he was not going to shut up with the judges and with the assessment they made of his cooked cannelloni of the first test.

According to him, the former MasterChef hopefuls who came to try the dishes had told him that it was good and he did not understand why the judges had placed him on the target: "I am a fair guy and I do not agree with your assessment of my dish. The former hopefuls told me it was good and you didn't."

Yes, they did give her hair. "Jotha, do you want to grow up? Well, trust us," Pepe Rodriguez snapped. There are silences that say much more than words.

"I'm pregnant and I'm worried"

The elimination test was one of the most frightening to the aspirants: desserts, in particular, cakes. Again, MasterChef gave the opportunity to those black aprons, already forgotten, of the first program. Those contestants who left the selection with a black apron waiting for MasterChef to pick up the phone and give them the opportunity. It was David and Daniel's turn this time. And David took the palm, who made a spectacular cake.

Each applicant had to cook a cake chosen by former MasterChef contenders, by Ruth Lorenzo, former Celebrity and Samantha Vallejo-Nágera. The result, although it may seem surprising much better than expected. Jotha licked her wounds and made a lemon cake, Samantha Vallejo-Nágera's favorite, which left the judge clouded. Ana made a red velvet cake worthy of any bakery. David, an awesome chocolate cake. Sergio, an acceptable cheesecake and at the bottom of the pyramid, again, Tuki, Larraitz, who had his motifs and Leti, with a tiramisu, who, mother of beautiful love, what a tiramisu.

And here's the crux of the matter: if Larraitz hadn't revealed she was pregnant, would she have been expelled? I doubt it. Of course his gypsy arm was terrifying, but much more terrible was the Tuki cake, without a doubt. Of course, what do you do when an aspirant tells you that she has learned that she is pregnant inside Masterchef, that only her colleagues know, that she is overwhelmed because she does not know if everything is fine, because she spends many feet and because she has bruises on her legs from the circulation, and that neither her mother nor the father know absolutely anything.

When you enter MasterChef anonymous the aspirants are isolated. They live three months without any contact with the outside, so Larraitz's burden is more than understandable. And to this you add that you find out about your pregnancy in a house with 20 strangers and if you know what to do.

The judges, who were already coming from the previous test with the fly behind the ear, finished connecting the dots when they saw that Larraitz was not the Larraitz of the previous four programs. He burned the cake on his chocolate arm because he forgot to turn off the oven and left it for 45 minutes when the maximum was 20. But it wasn't just that, it was the attitude. Larraitz was not in the kitchens of MasterChef, Larraitz already did not care about the contest. Logical.

So when Samantha Vallejo-Nágera came to see how it was going and Larraitz explained the disaster of its elaboration, the Basque saw the light to reveal what was really happening to her: "I don't have my head centered. I'm pregnant and I've found out here. I'm worried and I don't focus. I'm not focused. I can't tell my guy because I'm sick, my legs are full of bruises from the circulation of standing for so long. I have a head that doesn't work for me in what has to work for me."

Samantha Vallejo-Nágera hugged her, asked permission to tell the rest of the judges, and the decision was made, the best decision for Larraitz. In fact, when the judges made the assessment they only needed to say that she was the one expelled without making her wait any longer. "I understand that you have your head elsewhere and now we have an explanation. The cake is burned and terrifying, but the news you have us is very good, "said Jordi Cruz. Luca's tears from the balcony of the white aprons were the harbinger of what had already been decided: Larraitz, expelled.

It was certainly the best decision you could make, but it wasn't fair. Larraitz, despite having his head elsewhere, knew how to carry out an arm of chocolate that few would have saved. Yes, the cake was inedible and the filling was not the best, but the Tuki cake was much worse. It was the decision MasterChef 11 had to make for Larraritz's sake and for the sake of the contest because imagine what would have happened if Larraitz stayed. She would have messed up very fat.
