Charles Dunn, senior researcher at the Center for Middle East Studies, said that Washington's decision to deploy the nuclear-powered submarine USS Florida in the Middle East sends two messages, the first of which is directed at Iran at a time of tension in the region and fear of Iranian aggression.

As for the second message, according to the statements of the American diplomat to the program Beyond the News in the episode (2023/4/8), it is addressed to Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Arab Gulf countries, stating that Chinese diplomacy is very useful in reducing regional tensions, but the main problems between Iran and the Gulf countries have not been resolved, and thus America remains the strongest external party capable of imposing security in the Gulf.

The U.S. Navy has announced the deployment of the nuclear-powered submarine to the Middle East, to enhance maritime security and stability in the region. The Wall Street Journal quoted US officials as saying that Washington had received information about Iran's planning to carry out imminent attacks in the region, and that the submarine's deployment was intended to deter Iran's allies from attacking Washington's interests and allies.

According to what Bloomberg quoted the US Naval Forces Central Command, based in Bahrain, the US nuclear submarine "USS Florida", began Friday to cross the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean Sea, on its way to the Middle East.

While a Navy spokesman declined to specify whether the submarine was heading to the Gulf, he stressed that the aim of its deployment was to enhance maritime security and stability in the region, without further details about its mission.

According to Charles Dunn, America is sending a warning that it does not want to escalate with Iran, but it will respond with great force in the event of an attack on it, and Washington expects Iran to launch attacks on the interests of America or its allies in the region, and therefore wanted to deliver a strong warning to Tehran that it - that is, Washington - is able to hold Iran accountable for its actions, including actions related to American cargo ships.

On the Iranian side, former political and diplomatic adviser Mohammad Mahdi Shariatmadar said that if America was interested in the security of the region, it should deter the Zionist entity, considering that Iran and the countries of the region do not suffer from any security or military problem that needs the American presence or presence.

He went on to assert that Washington wanted the area to serve as a backyard where it imposed its presence under the pretext that it was imposing security there.

He added that America is angry and annoyed by the Iranian-Saudi rapprochement, which took place with Chinese mediation, stressing that Washington does not want such rapprochement to occur, and always seeks to provoke terror among the countries of the region in order to maintain the legitimacy of its military presence in it, denying all US claims that Iran has intentions to attack its neighbors.

He stressed that the discussions that took place between Riyadh and Tehran recently with Chinese mediation, discussed how the countries of the region can protect their security and safety without the need for the intervention of external powers.

The nuclear-powered USS Florida is one of only four guided missile submarines in the U.S. Navy's fleet, an attack submarine capable of carrying up to 4 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

However, what the US Navy spokesman declined to disclose, part of which was revealed by the Wall Street Journal, when it quoted US officials as saying that the US sending the submarine "USS Florida" to the Middle East is a show of force.

According to the newspaper, the US administration has received information that Iran is planning to carry out attacks in the region soon, and that the move is part of a broader move by the Pentagon to strengthen its forces in the region in order to deter Iranian-backed forces from carrying out further attacks on US interests and allies.
