In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge this month, a tour was held to climb the nearly 300-meter-high tower that supports the bridge.

The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, which connects Kobe City and Awaji Island, is the second longest suspension bridge in the world with a length of 2,1991 meters, supported by two large towers and cables.

In commemoration of the 2th anniversary of the opening of the bridge on the 5th of this month, a tour was held for those who have a connection with the number "25" to climb the highest part of the tower that supports the bridge.

On the morning of the 25th, 8 people participated in the tour, and they climbed the tower on the Kobe City side to a height of 31 meters by elevator and enjoyed the view of Kobe City, Awaji Island, and the Seto Inland Sea.

A couple in their 40s who participated said, "We got married on the day of the bridge's opening, so the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a special bridge, and we are happy to be able to see the scenery together at the silver wedding ceremony 25 years later."

A mother who came with her daughter, who is in the third grade of junior high school, said, "I came to the top of the bridge once when it was completed, but I wanted to show this view to my daughter, so I'm happy to be able to come with my child after 3 years."

Kazumasa Tawara, deputy director of the Honshu-Shikoku Expressway, which manages the bridge, said, "We are deeply moved by the many people who applied, and I hope that they will continue to hold tours like this and fall in love with the bridge."
