A commissioning ceremony was held at the Ishikawa Prefectural Police Headquarters for "part-time police dogs" who are usually raised in the private sector and cooperate with police investigations and searches in the event of an incident or accident. This year, for the first time, a small dog "Toy Poodle" will participate in the activity.

"Contract police dogs" are usually raised in private households and cooperate in investigating incidents and accidents and searching for missing people when requested by the police.

In Ishikawa Prefecture, 23 dogs were commissioned this year, and in addition to large dogs such as shepherds and Labrador retrievers, a small dog toy poodle was selected for the first time as a commissioned police dog in Ishikawa Prefecture.

At the commissioning ceremony on June 6, Detective Chief Eimorizo Izumi of the Ishikawa Prefectural Police Headquarters handed over a letter of commission to the owner's representative and asked for their cooperation in the activities.

According to the Prefectural Police Headquarters, last year a commissioned police dog was dispatched 118 times in Ishikawa Prefecture, one of which was a criminal investigation and the remaining 1 were for missing people.

In the three years up to last year, they have contributed to the discovery of missing persons seven times.

Sora, a nine-year-old toy poodle who became a part-time police dog, has a mischievous personality from a young age, and its owner, Misaki Hishiki, began sending her to a dog training facility in the summer of her adult to train her.

As he continued to train, his ability as a police dog to smell and trace odors blossomed, and he was commissioned.

The owner, Misaki Hishiki, said, "I didn't think I could really become a police dog, but I want to believe in this child's abilities and contribute to society."
