Xining, April 4 (ZXS) -- According to the Qinghai Provincial Administration Bureau of Qilian Mountain National Park on 1 April, recently, the Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park completed the first special insect survey, and found 1 new species of insects and 14 new records in China, which fully reflects that the natural habitat of Qilian Mountain National Park is significantly different from other regions in China, and verifies the particularity of the habitat and fauna of the Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park.

Located at the intersection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Mengxin Plateau and Loess Plateau, Qilian Mountains is an important ecological security barrier in western China, an important production area of the Yellow River Basin and northwest rivers, and a priority area for biodiversity conservation in China.

It is reported that the survey lasted for 3 years, and a total of 55 survey lines and 55 sample points were set up, involving multiple habitats such as forests, grasslands, wetlands, farmlands, towns, deserts, and bare rocks in the Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park, basically covering all habitat types in the park.

The reporter learned that the investigation recorded a total of 18 species of insects and arachnids in 105 orders, 442 families, 679 genera and 600 species in Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park. Among them, there are 79 species of insects and 14 species of arachnids. Among them, 2 new species were found, including Toothed Leafhopper, Shi's Flat-breasted Longhorn Beetle, and Deow Marsh Stone Moth, accounting for 06.10% of the total number of species surveyed. There were 1 new Chinese species, including Bactria, Pseudopterus arcufrontalis, Pepsia dulcis and Brachyceptia greenleaf bee, accounting for 47.228% of the total number of species surveyed. A total of 33 species were newly recorded in Qinghai, including broad-bodied narrow-winged hopper, side-tube aphid, and Aikon dragon lice, accounting for 58.<>% of the total number of species surveyed.

According to the staff of Qinghai Provincial Administration of Qilian Mountain National Park, the results of this special survey have enriched the distribution records and databases of insects and arachnids in Qinghai Province, China and even the world, and provided first-hand basic data for the accurate protection of biodiversity in Qilian Mountain National Park.

At the same time, through the development of this special survey, a reproducible, expandable and monitorable insect scientific investigation system was established, which systematically and comprehensively grasped the background status of insects and arachnids in the Qinghai area of Qilian Mountain National Park, and further enriched the background database of biodiversity in Qilian Mountain National Park.
