April 4 marks the 2th World Autism Day, and this year's theme is "Caring for Children with Autism, Caring for and Supporting Caregivers and Professionals with Autism" to raise awareness of people with autism.

In order to promote the whole society to care for autistic groups, on March 3, relevant experts from Inner Mongolia Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital walked into the Tianai Rehabilitation Public Welfare Service Center in Huimin District, Hohhot City, to carry out a series of activities such as science popularization and free consultation, providing free assessment, rehabilitation guidance and intervention treatment for autistic children.

Fan Guoye, chief physician of the Department of Child Health of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital, told reporters that autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder, and these patients are called "children from the stars", which means to flicker alone in the distant and dark night sky, and patients are characterized by insufficient social communication skills, loneliness, lack of emotional response, language development disorders and other reactions.

The incidence of autism is increasing year by year worldwide. According to incomplete statistics, the domestic prevalence rate is about 1%, the number of patients in China has exceeded 1000 million, the number of children aged 0 to 14 alone exceeds 200 million, and it is growing at a rate of nearly 20,<> per year, bringing heavy economic burden and psychological pressure to society and families.

Fan Guoye said that scientific intervention and treatment are found within the age of 5, and the vast majority of children with mild diseases can return to normal social life through rehabilitation education and integrated teaching. In addition, "genius children" and "not talking" are the two major misunderstandings of autism.

"Some parents are unwilling to accept that their children are sick, and they always delay their children's treatment in hesitation and wait-and-see." Fan Guoye reminded that when children have "five no" behaviors such as not (less) looking, not (less) responding, not (less) fingering, not (less) speaking, and inappropriate, parents should pay attention.

"I have seen many autistic children, and I am happy to see them recover and be able to walk into school." Fan Guoye emphasized that autism needs lifelong intervention, its treatment is not short-term efforts, but requires children's own efforts, parents, teachers, communities, hospitals cooperate with each other long-term process, parents should follow the doctor's advice, try to avoid intermittent rehabilitation training, should be under the guidance of doctors according to the needs of children at different times to adjust rehabilitation programs, but also hope that the society can give autistic children and autistic caregivers and professional workers more understanding, support and tolerance, care.

Nono, a 5-year-old boy, was diagnosed with autism when he was 2 years old. "At that time, we called him, he didn't react at all, we checked on the Internet, it may be autism, and took him to the hospital for examination." Nonuo's mother Ms. Yan said.

After the diagnosis, Ms. Yan took Nonuo after 3 years of cognitive, language, sensory integration and other rehabilitation training, the child has made rapid progress, can express his thoughts in simple words, can meet people's eyes, can sit down with his mother to pinch plasticine, draw, etc.

Cui Zhaoxia, head of the Tianai Rehabilitation Public Welfare Service Center in Huimin District, said that the high incidence of autism is usually between 2 and a half and 3 years old, and it is also divided into severity, and the sooner it is diagnosed and rehabilitated, the better the effect. Surveys have shown that 60% to 70% of children with mild autism can go to school, work and return to society after scientific and systematic intervention.

"If it is simply mild, after formal scientific intervention in the early stage, many children can return to normal life." However, if early detection, early intervention and early treatment are not achieved, the symptoms will not only not be relieved naturally, but will gradually worsen, making it impossible for children to integrate into normal life or even to receive education. Cui Chaoxia said that with this, children have increased difficulty in rehabilitation, poor training results, unable to integrate into society in the future, and even unable to take care of themselves, and need lifelong care.

In Cui Zhaoxia's view, leading "Xingbao" out of loneliness is not only a pure medical problem, but also a social problem that tests professionalism, patience and love. "It is hoped that the society can improve the awareness of autism, provide a fair and caring education and employment environment for autistic children, and more people will support and pay attention to the rehabilitation project for autistic children." Cui Chaoxia said. (End)
