The Confederation of African Football has officially unveiled the dates of the CAN 2024 which will be played in Côte d'Ivoire. The opening match is scheduled for January 13, the final will be played on February 11. The draw will be made in September after the last day of the playoffs.

It is at the Alassane-Ouattara stadium in Ébimpe (60,000 seats), in Abidjan, that the CAN 2024 will kick off. Ivory Coast, the host country, will meet on Saturday, January 13 an opponent who will be known in September after the last day of the qualifiers and after the draw of CAN. The date and place of the draw will be confirmed later according to CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba.
This 34th edition of the African Cup will involve 24 teams that will compete in the tournament in five cities: Abidjan, Bouaké, Korhogo, San-Pédro and Yamoussoukro and six stadiums with a capacity of 20,000 to 60,000 seats
This will be the second organization of the CAN for Côte d'Ivoire who hosted the tournament in 1984, the year of Cameroon's first coronation. There are two days left in the playoffs, the fifth scheduled for June 12-20, and the last from Sept. 4-12.
After the fourth day, six teams clinched their ticket to the finals: Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Burkina Faso and Senegal, the reigning African champions.
As a reminder, the CAN was initially scheduled to take place in June/July 2023, but CAF decided in July 2022 to postpone it to January-February 2024 so that it does not coincide with the rainy season in Côte d'Ivoire.
