After a few years cancelled due to the pandemic, E3 would have taken place in Los Angeles from June 13–16. But the worries have piled up and big players such as Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have not wanted to participate.

Stanley Pierre-Louis, head of the organizer – the American trade association ESA, says in an interview with Gameindustry.biz that the challenges became too difficult.

He cites three reasons for the cool interest: several potential exhibitors have had their schedules changed with the pandemic, others don't want to spend money on big marketing events, and developers have started experimenting with digital events instead.

It's unclear if the gaming fair will ever return.
