China News Network Guangzhou, March 3 (Cai Minjie, Wu Yi) What is "on fire"? Why do people "catch fire"? The Fortune Global Science and Technology Forum was held in Guangzhou on the 30th, and the modernization and future development of Chinese medicine became the focus of attention. He Rongrong, Deputy Dean of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Jinan University and Deputy Director of the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine, released the "Research Results of Biomedical Basics and Herbal Tea Intervention Effect on Fire" during the forum.

"On fire" is a word that often appears in everyone's life, and its symptoms include "dry nose", "acne on the face", "breath", "red eyes" and so on.

He Rongrong said that "fire" is the concept of traditional Chinese medicine theory, which is not applicable in overseas medical discourse systems, and it is difficult to understand "what is fire" overseas, so through modern biomedical technology, clarifying the mechanism of "fire" helps to deepen people's accurate understanding of the "fire" state of the body.

"Our research group approached with the unique perspective of emotional stress-induced 'disease susceptibility', and after experimental verification, defined 'disease susceptibility' as a widespread pathological process." He Rongrong introduced that bad emotions such as mood, anger and worry, staying up late and eating spicy or fried food and other bad living habits will cause the body's "internal heat" state, which will significantly increase the body's "susceptibility" to various diseases.

Lingnan region belongs to a typical subtropical climate, hot summer, rainy and humid, coupled with Cantonese people like to eat fried eating habits, it is easy to cause "fire", ancestors in order to dehumidify and heat, adapt to the environment, use some heat, ephemeral fire, detoxification herbs, boiled water to drink, to create a variety of "herbal tea" recipes.

He Rongrong's research group innovatively established an animal model suitable for the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine to conduct a multi-dimensional verification of the theory, and found that the use of herbal tea represented by the formula of "three flowers, three grasses and one leaf" can play the role of "fire" through multi-target synergy.

The above related research results have been published in domestic and foreign journals, and 89 institutions from 3292 countries and regions cite relevant papers. The release of this research results provides an international expression of modern science for "on fire".

"The results of this work are obtained through a series of studies over the past 15 years, involving clinical research and animal model construction, which is a relatively extensive and comprehensive summary of results." He Rongrong said that in order to modernize traditional Chinese medicine, it is also necessary to continuously strengthen the basic research of traditional Chinese medicine. In the future, more in-depth and systematic research will be carried out on these existing discoveries to strengthen the ability of Chinese medicine to prevent and treat diseases. (End)
