In Kainan City, Wakayama Prefecture, which is said to be the root of the surname "Suzuki", the "Suzuki Residence" was restored, and the people concerned held a ceremony on the 30th to celebrate its completion.

According to Kainan City and others, the Suzuki surname is said to have spread as the Suzuki clan, who began living in this area during the Heian period, spread the Kumano faith throughout the country.

The "Suzuki House" in the precincts of Fujihaku Shrine was based by the family, but since it has been vacant for many years and has become dilapidated, restoration work has been underway since the beginning of the year with about 1 million yen collected by local volunteers through donations.

On the 30th, a ceremony was held with about 40 people in attendance, and after the priest gave a congratulatory speech, five members of the gun corps, which is said to be related to the family, fired a congratulatory cannon with an arquebus to celebrate the completion.

The house is a one-story wooden building, and the garden is maintained, and some materials such as pillars and tiles that were used before restoration are reused.

In the future, the residence will be used as a facility where you can learn about the history of the Suzuki surname and the Kumano Kodo.

Hiromi Hiraoka, secretary general of the Suzuki Residence Restoration Association, said, "I am very happy, and I would like Mr. Suzuki from all over the country to visit at least once, and I would like him to feel the history of the family even if it is not the Suzuki surname."
