Tunisia will play its 21st CAN in Côte d'Ivoire, a kind of habit and know-how when it comes time for the qualifiers. Once again, the Carthage Eagles wasted no time in validating their ticket for the African Cup. On Tuesday at the February Martyrs' Stadium in Benghazi, the Tunisians showed seriousness and assumed their status by dominating their hosts.

From the first quarter of an hour, Jala Qaderi's men opened the scoring thanks to Haythem Jouini (16th) who took a corner from Ali Maaloul with a cross header.

Lee Eagles of Carthage had several opportunities to add to the bill, but fell on a goalkeeper in a state of grace, Muad Allafi, who won no less than three face-to-face in front of the Tunisian attackers.

Despite this small score, the 2004 African champions did not have to tremble during this meeting, except perhaps when dozens of water bottles began to fall from the stands to aim at them. The main thing was already done, a third victory in four matches and especially this qualification won on the fourth day. The Tunisians could be accompanied in this Pool J by Equatorial Guinea, second, six lengths ahead of Libya, now in bad shape.
