Shanghai, March 3 (ZXS) -- On the evening of March 26, under the heartfelt interpretation of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, "Dream of the Red Mansion", one of the four masterpieces of Chinese classics, made its debut on the symphony stage in the form of a violin concerto, and Schnittke's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Gogol Suite", one of the three masters of Russian contemporary music, ushered in the Chinese premiere at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center.

More than 30 years ago, the 1987 version of "Dream of Red Mansions" put a "dream of Red Mansions" on the screen and became an eternal classic in the hearts of Chinese people, and when the melody of songs such as "Eyebrows" and "Funeral Flowers" sounded, it always evoked the memories of countless people. The violin concerto "Dream of Red Mansions" is adapted from the soundtrack of the "87th version" of "Dream of Red Mansions", and uses symphony to present the various human feelings in the Grand View Garden.

"This violin concerto is derived from the classic Chinese literary work Dream of the Red Mansion, and it is most appropriate to place it in a classical concert based on literary works." Zhang Yi, artistic director of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and a famous conductor, said in an interview with China News Agency that the violin concerto "Liang Zhu" draws the essence from Yue opera and successfully "flies" to all over the world, and looks forward to "Dream of Red Mansions" can also "bloom" again on the world stage in the form of a violin concerto.

This "dream" is not another "dream", Schnittke's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Gogol Suite" are another experience. Different from the widely circulated Mendelssohn version, Schnittke's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" "wanders" between multiple styles, sometimes classical, sometimes contemporary, like an open and closed window, quite interesting; "Gogol Suite" condenses many works such as "Dead Souls", "Portrait" and "Coat" by writer Gogol into one piece.

These two works of Schnittke, created in the seventies and eighties of the twentieth century, and the "87th version" of "Dream of the Red Mansion" was also broadcast in the 20s of the 80th century, they are not so far away from us, and the dialogue between Chinese and Western cultures is carried out on the same stage. "In Zhang Yi's view, truly excellent art is often ahead of the times, and it will also have profound influence and significance in the present." During the rehearsals, I got a new understanding of Shakespeare and Gogol. ”

In recent years, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra has insisted on "collecting the remains of the sea" and excavated many "non-famous works of famous composers" and "famous works of non-famous composers". On the other hand, Zhang Yi also wants to provide a stage for cultural exchanges between China and the West through the same "dialogue" of Chinese and Western composers' works. In May, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra will also present a concert by French composer Messien and his Chinese student Chen Qigang. Both are very influential composers, and they are also teachers and students, and we can explore what similarities and differences are in their works. (End)
