Actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, authorities said.

The NYPD has said Majors, star of the newly released Creed III and Ant-Man 3, has been involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded around 11 a.m. to a 911 call inside an apartment in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

"The victim informed police that she had been assaulted," an NYPD spokesman said in a statement. "Officers took the 33-year-old male into custody without incident. The victim suffered minor injuries to his head and neck and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition."

Majors has been out of police custody since Saturday night, the NYPD spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press.

For his part, a representative of Majors has denied any wrongdoing on the part of the actor. "He has done nothing wrong," the representative said in an email to the AP. "We look forward to clearing his name and clarifying this."

Majors is one of the most risen stars in Hollywood in recent times. After breaking into 2019 with The Last Black Man of San Francisco, Majors has starred in Brothers in Arms, Harder Will Be the Fall and last year Devotion.

He also stars in Sundance Magazine's recent Dreams Festival entry, which Searchlight Pictures will release in December.
