It is a packed Ibn-Batouta stadium that awaited Walid Regragui's players on Saturday night, for their first outing since their historic World Cup in Qatar. In an atmosphere worthy of a national holiday, the 65,000 fans cheered the players as heroes as they arrived on the pitch. Hicham came especially from Paris for this event:

« It's a continuation of the World Cup. The block remained welded, stayed high, pressed when it was necessary... I'm very happy with the game and the win. After the World Cup, which really marked the spirits and history, we continue on this momentum. We had a great match, I'm very satisfied to have made the trip. I don't regret it at all. »

« They understood what it was like to wear the national team jersey. »

On the field, the Atlas Lions showed the world that the World Cup was no accident. Sofiane Boufal opened the scoring (29th). Casemiro equalized for the Seleçao (67th) before Abdelhamid Sabiri scored the winning goal (79th). The Moroccans played with the same qualities as in Qatar to the great satisfaction of coach Walid Regragui, who still wants to keep a cool head:

« They understood. They understood what it was like to wear the national team jersey. They understood that they had a great people and great supporters who deserve these results but, I repeat, we must not get excited. Today is good, we are in a good momentum, we beat Brazil. The World Cup was three months ago. We must continue to work with the same values, but the secret is the state of mind. »

The Lions' next game is for Tuesday, March 28 in Madrid, Spain, for another game against a South American nation: Peru.
