After its defeat in Ethiopia (0-2) the previous day, Egypt recovered well by disposing of Malawi in Cairo in a meeting that smelled like a trap. In this pool D where the four teams have the same record in two days (one win, one loss), the Pharaohs had no interest in missing before the second meeting of the group between Guinea and Ethiopia. Rui Victoria's men were put into orbit by their leader Mohamed Salah in the 20th minute before Omar Marmoush doubled the score in stoppage time in the first half.

In the other meeting of the group, Guinea hosted Ethiopia. The Guineans opened the scoring in the first half with a goal from Francois Kamano (39th). Lille Mohamed Bayo doubled the lead in the second half (73rd). The Syli national makes a good operation in the race to qualify for Côte d'Ivoire.
