Mali, two wins in two matches, could fear this meeting against Gambia, quarter-finalist at the last CAN and who continues to progress in Africa. But the Eagles did not wait very long to open the score, by the Rémois Kamory Doumbia in the 3rd minute, and shower the hopes of the Scorpions. Even if they were throughout the match under the threat of the Gambians, the Malians managed the game before doubling the bet in stoppage time on a penalty of Adama Traore "Malouda" (90th + 3). This third victory in as many games allows them to look forward to the second part of the playoffs with serenity and to caracolate at the top of Group G.

Burkina Faso in Group B is in the same situation, but the victory was long to emerge for the Stallions who fell to a tough team from Togo. It was not until the last moments of the match that Tapsoba released his own thanks to a goal in the 87th minute.

In the other match of this group, Cape Verde missed a great opportunity against Eswatini by conceding the draw at home (0-0). The Blue Sharks could not get rid of Swazi moths who won their second point away after holding Togo in check in Lomé (2-2) on the first day. The Burkinabé remain alone in the lead with 5 points ahead of the second, Cape Verde.
