The winners of the Submission Video Award, which are selected from images submitted to broadcasters nationwide through NHK's video posting site "NHK Scoop BOX," have been announced on the 23rd.

The NHK Scoop Box Submission Video Award is given to videos with high newsworthiness and topicality from among the more than 1,3 videos submitted to NHK by viewers during the past year.

Among them, the Grand Prize in the Scoop Video Category was given to a video shot on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido last April. It may have captured the situation before the sightseeing boat "KAZU1" sank off the coast of the Shiretoko Peninsula before it was shipwrecked. The woman in Sapporo City who took the photo posted the video, saying, "I hope that it will lead to an investigation of the cause by catching the eyes of experts."

The Grand Prize in the Topic Category was awarded to Shinji Kawamura's video of photographing diamond dust in Biei, Hokkaido last February. The video records iridescent light grains, which are said to be rare among "diamond dust". Other award-winning works can be viewed on the NHK Scoop BOX website.
