Algeria were aiming for a three-point pass after victories against Uganda (2-0) and Tanzania (2-0). It's done. However, to everyone's surprise, it was the Nigeriens who took the lead at the break, thanks to a Daniel Sosah goal in the 39th minute. Launched deep, Sosah deceived Anthony Mandrea, with a nice dive. It was the Menas' first real opportunity.

Entering the game just after the break, Baghdad Bounedjah put the two teams back on level terms after a superb centre at the second post of Belalli (54th). Just before, Riyad Mahrez had the opportunity to equalize with the header. His ball found a Nigerien defender in the lurch. In the 79th minute, Mahrez, again, found the bar following a center from the left side. The ball then returned to Bounedjah. The Algerian striker of the evening saw his header saved on his line by Ousmane Diabaté.

At the very end of the match, Mahrez, alone in front of goal, deceived Mahamadou Tanja. With this victory, Algeria remains at the top of its group (F), followed by Niger. The ticket for Côte d'Ivoire is approaching for Belmadi's men. The two nations will meet again on Monday, March 27 for the return match.
