In order to strengthen counter-terrorism measures at the G5 Hiroshima Summit to be held in May, the Japan Coast Guard established the Maritime Security and Security Headquarters.

The venue for the G7 Hiroshima Summit will be the Grand Prince Hotel Hiroshima on Ujina Island in Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, surrounded by the sea.

The Japan Coast Guard will establish the Maritime Security and Security Headquarters from the 22nd, and Commissioner Shohei Ishii instructed the staff, "Since the venue will be a coastal area, the role of the Coast Guard is extremely important, and it is necessary to take all possible measures to ensure the safety of dignitaries at sea."

According to the Japan Coast Guard, the approximately 300-meter area around the hotel has been designated as a "self-restraint zone" and fishermen and passenger ship operators are asked not to enter the area for one week from May 4 to 5, four days before the event.

In addition, the area around Hiroshima Port will be set as an area that requires prior notification, and if the vessel sails without notification, an on-site inspection will be conducted.

In the past, at the Kyushu-Okinawa Summit held in 15, protesting environmental groups approached the venue by boat and landed.

The Japan Coast Guard will strengthen its alert posture by dispatching patrol boats and aircraft from all over Japan to the vicinity of the venue, including the relevant ministerial meetings held in coastal areas, and by assigning Japan Coast Guard officers to passenger ship terminals.
