Charles III is preparing to come to France for his very first official state visit. The King of England will dine with Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron in Versailles, and pay tribute to the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe. Unfortunately, his royal trip comes in a particularly tense political and social context in France.

It is a visit that Charles III may well regret... The King of England will make his first official state visit in France, from Monday 27 March to Wednesday 29 March 2023.

Demonstrations are multiplying all over France

The son of Elizabeth II had decided to make this little trip across the Channel before anger rumbled in France because of the adoption of the pension reform via the 49.3. Since this passage in force in the Assembly, demonstrations have multiplied throughout the territory and are sometimes very tense. In Paris, many garbage cans and bus shelters were burned.

A situation that could affect the visit of Charles III. The sovereign and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles are to dine with Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte in Versailles, or pay tribute to the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe.

An "ultra-secure" visit

The British are therefore naturally very worried about their king. "I'm a little worried with everything that's happening in Paris at the moment, hopefully everything will be calmed down next week," testified an English at the microphone of our colleagues of BFMTV in front of the gates of Buckingham Palace. The France reassured its English neighbors by promising them that the arrival of Charles III will be "ultra-secure". But, relatives quoted by our Gala colleagues, actually fear that a "crowd movement degenerates". For the time being, no cancellation is mentioned.
