【Commentary】Mandarin duck is one of the four major winter migratory birds by the West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and a national second-class protected animal. In recent years, with the improvement of the water quality environment of West Lake, more and more mandarin ducks choose to come to West Lake in winter to winter, and then fly back to the north in spring to breed, in order to protect them from human harm, in 2017, several bird lovers spontaneously formed a "Mandarin Duck Guardian Team" to guard all wild water birds in the waters of West Lake.

At that time, we were only about 10 people, and now we have basically three or four hundred people, and our members are mainly composed of some bird watchers, retired employees, and some working employees who use their spare time.

We are primarily a farsighted telescope. The second is that the farsighted lens camera is easy to record, and I take a picture of it and send it to our large group, and everyone knows what the current situation of West Lake is.

Lu Jianli, as one of the initiators of the West Lake Mandarin Duck Guard, told reporters that because migratory birds are very harsh in choosing habitats, they will carefully select places with good ecological conditions and away from human attacks, so for migratory birds, the best protection is not to do human intervention, "no feeding, no disturbance, no capture" three no's principle, is the best way for the public to protect birds.

Our principle is "three noes", do not feed, do not disturb, do not catch, keep a certain distance, quietly watch, this is the greatest protection of our wild animals Mandarin ducks and some other birds.

Wild animals have their own food chain foraging, and it eats pure natural food, which is its healthiest. If it is fed and brings it any harm, it is dependent on humans, its food structure may change, and it is dependent on humans, which is not good for its health and its migration. In addition, more importantly, it is credulous of humans, and I can feed you that it is very close to you. We can't rule out that some (tourists) (go) catch and hurt.

When talking about the original intention of the establishment of the escort team, Lu Jianli said that in the seven years since the establishment of the "Mandarin Duck Guard", tourists' awareness of loving birds and protecting birds has been significantly improved. He hopes that in the future, he can popularize the knowledge about wild birds to more and more people and protect these elves. The increase in birds has also enriched the biodiversity of the entire West Lake, and the changes visible to the naked eye in recent years have made more and more members of the convoy feel proud and gratified.

In the past, I saw that (everyone) would go to feed, but now many Hangzhou citizens have taken the initiative to stand up and join this team. I really hope that our citizens in Hangzhou or those who understand birds, love birds and protect birds, will take the initiative to stand up and persuade. I hope that we will not feed the civilized watch and keep a certain distance, which is what we expect the most. Because our Mandarin Duck Guard has always been doing popular science, we even put some beautiful fragments of water birds and West Lake Mandarin Duck protection into the campus and shared them with some primary school students.

In recent years, the clarity and cleanliness of the water quality of West Lake, it has passed the water diversion management work of the Qiantang River, and its transparency is obviously increasing, which is one. Second, the entire biodiversity of West Lake, including aquatic (biological), aquatic plants under the West Lake, surrounding trees, flowers and trees, these are all being restored, or are purely natural, and it is important to try to interfere with less man-made as much as possible.
