• Health alert Extremadura has already immobilized more than 10,000 liters of oil with false labeling and a strange color

The food alert for possible fraud in the marketing of extra virgin olive oil already extends to thirteen brands, according to sources from the Ministry of Health of Extremadura.

So far, 20,000 liters of oil from these thirteen brands have been immobilized, the same sources have pointed out.

Following the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) received a food alert at the request of the health authorities of Andalusia specifying that companies without a health registration number and, therefore, outside official control, were packaging oil and distributing it in Extremadura, the General Directorate of Public Health identified nine brands on March 9: Acebuche, Virgen del Guadiana, Cortijo del Oro, La Campiña de Andalucía, Galiaceite 2022, La Abadía, Villa de Jerez, Don Jaén Aceite 2019 and Imperio Andaluz.

Days later, the list was extended to the marks Vareado and La Esmeralda, and this Friday the General Directorate of Public Health has included two others, Los Milagros and Almazara Fernández.

To date, the first results of the analysis of oils in relation to this food alert has confirmed the presence of the so-called "lampante with refined" in a brand, "Cortijo del Oro", which constitutes a crime against public health, so the Extremadura authorities have already transferred it to justice.
