Ahead of the compulsory wearing of helmets for all cyclists from April 4, an event was held in Osaka on April 1 for children dressed as police officers to wear helmets.

In order to make as many people as possible aware of the compulsory wearing of helmets, the Minato Police Station opened at a corner of a shopping mall in Osaka's Minato Ward.

Six people between the ages of 5 and 8 participated in the event, and children dressed up as police officers in uniform urged them to wear helmets in the block streets of Osaka.

When children found a doll without a helmet, they stopped it with a whistle and held up a card calling for the safe use of bicycles.

Later, the police officer reminded me of the importance of wearing a helmet to protect my head.

A second-grade girl who participated said, "I'm going to tell my mom and friends that I should wear a helmet when I go out to play nearby."

Tatsuya Abe, chief of the Traffic Division of the Minato Police Station, said, "There are many people who die from head injuries while riding bicycles, so I believe that there are lives that can be protected by wearing helmets.
