Jean Dujardin is about to make his comeback in cinemas on Wednesday, March 22 with the theatrical release of the film Sur les chemins noirs, the adaptation of Sylvain Tesson's bestseller. The 50-year-old actor plays the writer-traveler who decides to take a tour of France, from Mercantour to Cotentin, after coming out of a deep coma.

"There are a lot of things that don't make sense when you're an actor"

A journey out of time marking a return to life that made Jean Dujardin question his own existence and his profession. "There are many things that do not make sense when you are an actor," says the comedian in the columns of Paris Match Thursday, March 16, 2023. "The idea of toil is not the same. We are not in the same dynamic," he continues, referring to the debate on pension reform.

"I see the suffering of my fellow men"

The husband of Nathalie Péchalat assures to have wanted to do this job to "escape the world of the greats", where he "never wanted to enter". "We decide, each in our own way, not to follow a clear societal pattern. It is a form of courage. We can't blame artists for being above ground because we chose to be," explains Jean Dujardin, who does not consider himself disconnected from reality.

"This does not prevent me from knowing the world in which I live," says the former husband of Alexandra Lamy. "I'm not just an actor. I am responsible. I see the suffering of my fellow human beings. When I accept a project, I take a hundred people who will work for at least eight weeks. It takes a little short thoughts to see us as privileged people who are not aware of anything," he said.
