A 22-year-old suspect in Shinjuku Ward was accused of violating the Customs Law by Tokyo Customs for trying to smuggle 800 grams of cannabis and stimulants from France and China using international mail.

Tokyo Customs is investigating the details, assuming that the suspect tried to smuggle illegal drugs using a so-called dark part-time job recruited on SNS.

Koki Nijo (22), an unemployed man from Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, was accused of violating the Customs Act by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office.

According to Tokyo Customs, suspect Nijo sent more than 800 grams of illegal drugs such as cannabis, stimulants, and cocaine from eight countries, including France and China, by international mail and air freight over the past year or so until March last year. He has been accused of attempted smuggling on 15 occasions.

It is said that the suspect was trying to mail illegal drugs purchased through a dark site called "dark web" to three men and women of so-called dark part-time jobs recruited on SNS.

Illegal drugs were found in DVDs and toy boxes during customs inspections at Narita Airport and other places, and the three were asked to pick up the drugs for between 5,000 yen and 10,000 yen per case. It is said that they were instructed that "the mailed supplement is a supplement and I want it to be forwarded to another place".

Last year, the suspect was arrested by the Narcotics Control Department of the Kinki Bureau of Health and Welfare on suspicion of smuggling dangerous drugs in a similar manner, and has since been indicted, so Tokyo Customs continues to investigate the details.
