Will Celine Dion be one of the VIP guests at the coronation of King Charles III on May 6? The Quebec diva would in any case have her place among the guests to whom she is much closer than it seems... The interpreter of Pour que tu m'aimes encore could even be considered a distant member of the Windsor family since she is related to none other than the wife of the King of England, Camilla Parker Bowles!

Celine Dion and Camilla Parker Bowles ninth cousins

The queen consort and the singer are indeed ninth cousins, as reported by the famous genealogy site MyHeritage.fr, specialist in online DNA tests. The site focused on the genealogy of Camilla Parker Bowles, when she became Queen Consort of the United Kingdom upon the death of her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022. "As soon as the accession to the throne of Prince Charles and Camilla was confirmed, we embarked on an investigation into his ancestors," says Marie Cappart, genealogist of MyHeritage.fr. Camilla Parker Bowles and Celine Dion are ninth cousins because they have a common ancestor.

"The research algorithm was able to highlight that a French emigrant to Quebec appeared in the family tree of Celine Dion, but also in that of Charles' wife," says Marie Cappart. The common ancestor of the queen consort and the diva is a man named Jean Guyon du Buisson, a master mason of French origin who lived in the 17th century. Camilla Parker Bowles and Celine Dion have never mentioned this bond that unites them and we do not even know if the two women are aware of this unlikely relationship...

One thing is certain: if she ignores it, Celine Dion will never be disappointed to be part of the British royal family, which she admires. The singer had paid a vibrant tribute to Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, after the announcement of the Queen's death. "She has dedicated her life to public service, tirelessly helping those in need. She was a model of strength and dignity for so many and her loss will be greatly felt around the world," Celine Dion wrote in the caption of a black and white portrait of the sovereign. She concluded, deeply moved: "We will miss her all. My deepest condolences to the royal family and all those who loved and cherished her."
