  Wang Tao is the director of the Cultural Relics Protection Center of Huade County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. On March 13, he said in an interview that archaeologists unearthed tens of thousands of cultural relics in Yumin Village, about 30 kilometers away from the local county seat, more than ten years ago. The obscure Yumin Village has also been dubbed the "Huade Yumin Ruins" by the archaeological community.

  As an archaeologist at the Huade County Cultural Relics Protection Center, Liu Xuefeng "touched" many pieces of ware and ceramics for the first time when excavating the site with archaeologists in 2010.

  "Afterwards, I told Bao Qingchuan, the archaeologist in charge of the excavation, about this discovery, and then house sites were unearthed here one after another, and a human bone was accidentally unearthed." Liu Xuefeng recalled.

  The Yumin site in Huade County was really known to the outside world in 2016. During the archaeological excavations of that year, archaeologists further updated their understanding of the Yumin site, ruins, and relics.

  "In 2016, archaeologists carried out a special survey of key early Neolithic sites in Huade County, and excavated 7 sites ranging from the Yumin site culture period to the middle and late Yangshao period," Liu Xuefeng said.   Bao Qingchuan and Hu Xiaonong, the archaeological experts who presided over the excavation of the site, said in an interview that the site was finally determined to be 8,400-7,600 years ago, which can be called the beginning of the Neolithic Age in the grasslands of northern China.

  Liu Xuefeng told the reporter happily: "I didn't expect that I would 'walk' on the ruins casually and become a witness to the new archaeological discoveries in China. Later, many domestic media came here to report on the ruins. pride."

  In 2017, the Huade Yumin site was selected by the academic community as the "2016 Chinese Archaeological New Discovery Shortlisted Project". The local people said, "I didn't expect the Yumin site to have such a long history."

  The discovery of the Huade Yumin ruins has driven the process of creating a "cultural business card" in a certain sense.

  Wang Tao said that in 2020, the Huade County People's Government identified the site as a key cultural relic protection unit in Huade County, and is currently applying for a key cultural relic protection unit in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

  Bao Qingchuan said that through the continuous efforts of the archaeological department for many years, the current Huade Yumin site has been officially called Yumin culture by the academic circles. At present, the Yumin site is expected to jointly create the "Archaeological China" project with the Hebei archaeological department. The people's ruins will be more famous and famous.

  Ding Fengwei, director of the Huade County Culture and Tourism Bureau, said in an interview with reporters that at present, the Huade County Culture and Tourism Bureau plans to invest 80 million yuan to protect and develop the Yumin site, and the work is currently being carried out in an orderly manner.
