The Dolby Theater in Hollywood, which hosted the Oscars ceremony, was flown over at only 300 m altitude by two US Navy F-18 Hornet fighters, in a nod to the film Top Gun: Maverick

and

its hero, Tom Cruise.

But it's a crazy sci-fi comedy that won the 95th Oscars...

Michelle Yeoh, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in

Everything Everywhere All at Once

is a star in Asia, writes our US correspondent

Loïc Pialat

.

The former Miss Malaysia has been acting in action films since the 80s. But in Hollywood, she has less aura.

So, this Oscar obtained at 60 years old moved her a lot: “

To all the little boys and little girls who look like me and who are watching tonight, this Oscar is a sign of hopes and possibilities.

sci-fi comedy

When it was released, not many people imagined

Everything Everywhere all at once

, a science-fiction comedy with a modest budget, to be so successful in theaters.

The film chronicles the adventures of Evelyn, an overworked laundromat owner suddenly tasked with saving a multitude of parallel universes from an evil force.

It is therefore a triumph for the "Daniels", the nickname of the duo of directors, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Oscar winners for their screenplay and their staging.

A beautiful story also for Ke Huy Quan, child star of

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

, lost sight of after adolescence.

Here he is Best Supporting Actor:

My adventure started on a boat.

I spent a year in a refugee camp and I still find myself on the biggest stage in Hollywood.

It's the American dream!

And in this evening of rebirth, the voters of the Academy also honored Brendan Fraser, star of the years 90-2000 a little forgotten.

He won the Oscar for best actor thanks to his role as an obese professor in

The Whale

“

Thank you, it means so much to us

Alongside the steamroller

Everything Everywhere All at Once

, also awarded the Oscar for best original screenplay and best editing, the German film

In the West, Nothing New

stood out as the other revelation of the evening with four Oscars.

This new version of the famous novel about the great butchery of 14-18 was voted best international film and won various technical awards (photography, sets, soundtrack).

Thank you, it means so much to us

," said director Edward Berger, who helmed this third adaptation of German Erich Maria Remarque's masterpiece, the first in Goethe's language.
