On the eve of the presentation of the world's main film award "Oscar", the winners of the anti-prize awarded for the most dubious achievements in cinema at the end of the year - "Golden Raspberry" were announced.
The maximum number of nominations - eight - was received by the biographical film about the life of Hollywood actress and singer Marilyn Monroe "Blonde".
As a result, the picture received two "Golden Raspberries" in the categories "worst film" and "worst screenplay".
The tape directed by Andrew Dominik received mixed reviews from critics and viewers - its rating on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes is 42% and 32% in the respective categories, and on the domestic Kinopoisk - only 6.1.
The same result - two "Golden Raspberries" - for the film "Elvis".
Both statuettes went to Tom Hanks for "worst supporting actor" and for "worst acting duo" with his "latex face and ridiculous accent."
In the case of the film by Baz Luhrmann, the claims of the organizers of the anti-award look more far-fetched, compared to the ambiguously perceived "Blonde" - "Elvis" has good reviews from critics, and the audience accepted the biographical film about the "king of rock and roll" quite favorably (94 % percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.2 points on Kinopoisk).
Two more "Raspberries" went to the treasury of the Marvel/Sony comic book "Morbius".
Oscar winner Jared Leto has made the anti-award list for the second year in a row.
In 2022, he received a statuette for "worst supporting role" in "The House of Gucci", but now he was named "worst actor".
Leto's colleague on the set, Adria Arjona, received the Golden Raspberry Award, becoming the "worst supporting actress".
The picture "Morbius" was coolly received by Western critics (16% on Rotten Tomatoes), which cannot be said about the Western audience - 71%.
At the same time, the Russian audience reacted to the film moderately, estimating it at 5.6 points.
In the Worst Sequel, Remake or Parody category, the Golden Raspberry went to Pinocchio by Robert Zemeckis, filmed for Disney + (the organizers separately emphasized that they had no complaints about Pinocchio Guillermo del Toro).
But Zemeckis's tape became the third in terms of the number of nominations for the Golden Raspberry - in six categories.
Worst Director went to actor/musician Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) for Good Mourning, for which he also wrote and starred.
In total, the tape was nominated in seven categories, losing only to "Blonde".
Another "Golden Raspberry" in the category "worst actress" received ... "Golden Raspberry".
The organizers made the unprecedented decision to “award” themselves after they nominated the young artist Raynan Kira Armstrong (“Inflamming Eyes”) for the anti-award in January 2023, after which a flurry of criticism fell upon them.
As a result, the organizers decided not to nominate artists under the age of 18 for the Golden Raspberry, but instead gave the prize to themselves for their mistake.
However, this is not the first time the nomination has been withdrawn by the organizers.
So in 2022, the unique category "Bruce Willis' Worst Performance in a Movie of 2021" was presented, which included eight films with the actor's participation, including such films as "Survive the Game", "Dead End" and "Beyond Life".
However, after the artist's diagnosis (frontotemporal dementia) became known, the organizers canceled the nomination.
Another prize, but this time with a plus sign, was awarded to actor Colin Farrell - in the special category "Atonement".
In the early 2000s, the artist almost became the "worst actor" for his role in "Alexander" (then George W. Bush, who received a statuette for the film "Fahrenheit 9/11", "saved" him from the "award").
Now Farrell has been praised for his work in the Banshee of Inisherin.
The Golden Raspberry Anti-Prize has been awarded since 1981.
The laureates are appointed by members of the fund of the same name, and the winners receive plastic figurines painted in gold.
The value of this prize is just under $5.
It is worth noting that artists take their "awards" quite rarely.
Among those who accepted the figurines were Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, Paul Verhoeven, Bill Cosby and others.
