CAN U20: Senegal triumph in the final against Gambia

The Cubs of Teranga won the CAN U20 final by beating Gambia two goals to nothing.

The Cubs of Teranga won the CAN U20 final by beating Gambia two goals to nothing on Saturday March 11.

This is Senegal's first title in the competition after three failures in the final.

After CAN 2022 and CHAN 2023, CAN U20 is also heading to Dakar. 

The match, played in the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt, promised to be tight between the two best defenses in the competition.

But the Senegalese attack, the best of this edition, made the Gambian defense bend in the 6th minute on a header from Mame Mor Faye, who was ahead of the opposing goalkeeper.

An opening of the score which came to concretize the good start of the match of the Cubs of Teranga.

Opposite, the men of Abdoulai Bojang struggled to approach the goals of a Senegalese team which overall mastered the debates, solid around their sentry, Mamadou Lamine Camara.

It is also the latter who made the break in the 56th, also with a header, following a corner. 

Flawless course for Senegal

The Gambia, which did not target a single shot during this West African derby, then threw its last forces into the battle without ever really defeating the Senegalese defense. 

Senegal concluded a perfect tournament in style which saw them win all their matches without conceding a single goal.

Malick Daf's foals put an end to the curse after three failures in the final in the last four editions of the CAN U20.
