  Originally produced by Beijing Normal University, the play is based on the story of Wang Luobin who devoted himself to the western frontier and devoted himself to music and art to fight for the country. It combines music, dance, musical instrument performance, performance and other art forms.

The polishing of this rehearsal will absorb fresh force for the crew and continue to improve the quality of musicals.

  After several rounds of school performances in 2019, the musical "The Song of the Past" was well received by teachers and students. It won the "Beijing Culture and Art Fund 2019 Funding Project" and "National Arts Fund 2020 Stage Art Creation Funding Project". It will also be selected in 2022 "Action Plan for the Promotion of Original Cultural Products in Colleges and Universities".

Chief director Xiao Xiangrong said frankly that he hopes to use "ballads of the past" to tell "today's story" and use this play to inspire current students' love for art.

Relying on Wang Luobin, an alumnus of Beijing Normal University and several of his popular music masterpieces, and relying on the solid artistic skills and unique imagination of the teachers and students of the School of Art and Media, the play presents the unique artistic creativity of Beijing Normal University.

The performance team includes not only professional teachers and students from the School of Art and Media, but also art lovers from the whole school.

  Su Yanhui, a professor of choral conducting at the School of Music of South China Normal University, said that the original folk songs in the musical "Songs of the Past" are very attractive in the play, and its emotional transfer in character creation is particularly worth looking forward to.
