[Commentary] On the evening of March 4, the Palace Museum's first musical children's play "Luduan", based on the auspicious animal "Luduan" of the Palace Museum, was staged in Shanghai Majestic Theater.

In the magnificent Forbidden City, more than 1.86 million pieces (sets) of cultural relics have been properly preserved, and each cultural relic has its own story.

"Lu Duan" extracts character prototypes from these cultural relics, endowing them with unique character appearance and personality traits.

It is understood that "Luduan" is a cloisonné enamel aromatherapy animal in the Forbidden City in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. In the play, he is more than 400 years old and has a childlike innocence full of curiosity about the world.

Many young viewers expressed in interviews with reporters that the cultural relics "lived" on the stage are very interesting, and they hope to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural relics in the Forbidden City and traditional Chinese culture through "Lu Duan".

  [Concurrent] Audience

I just like some cultural relics in the Palace Museum, and I also like Chinese history.

  [Concurrent] Audience

I really like the Hall of Preserving Harmony (in the Forbidden City), the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Supreme Harmony.

[Explanation] In addition to the protagonist "Lu Duan", there are national treasure-level cultural relics in the play, such as the Qing Emperor Qianlong Jin'ou Yonggu Cup, Shen Zifan Kesi "Mei Que Picture" in the Southern Song Dynasty, and the cursive calligraphy work "Ping Fu Tie" by the calligrapher Lu Ji of the Jin Dynasty, etc. Transformed into an important role, he and Lu Duan started a "big debate" on the stage about classical culture and contemporary trends.

The magnificent stage created by cutting-edge technologies such as immersive stage images and naked-eye 3D makes the artistic beauty of ancient Chinese architecture directly hit the hearts of the people.

[Concurrent] Yan Hongbin, chief planner of "Lu Duan"

For this performance, we dedicated the strongest lineup, the best stage, the best lighting, and the best naked-eye 3D to the public in Shanghai.

At the same time, our performances have also done a lot of public welfare. We invited many public welfare schools (students) to watch our performances.

[Explanation] The story of "the relics of the Forbidden City moved to the south" presented in "Lu Duan" also moved the audience.

In 1933, in order to protect the precious historical relics, the Palace Museum transported some cultural relics of the Palace Museum to Shanghai in batches.

The ticketing time of "Lu Duan" national tour Shanghai station is just to commemorate the trip to Shanghai of "the cultural relics of the Forbidden City moved to the south".

It is reported that the play will also follow the southward migration route of cultural relics to Chongqing Guotai Art Center, Anhui Grand Theater, Shaanxi Grand Theater, etc.

[Concurrent] Yan Hongbin, chief planner of "Lu Duan"

I hope that more children will come into the theater to learn about the Forbidden City, its cultural relics, and the work of our museum keepers.

I think it is also a kind of inheritance, which is to carry forward the excellent traditional culture in the present. We must start from the baby, from the students, so that they can truly feel the charm of the excellent traditional culture of the motherland.
