Police believe he was caught in an avalanche.


In Hokkaido, a man who was backcountry skiing in Shimizu town was caught in an avalanche and went missing.

Around 11:30 am on the 5th, the family reported to the fire department that "one of the parents and children who were backcountry skiing was missing" at Mt. Yotei in Makkari Village, Hokkaido.



A helicopter search by police found a man partially buried in the snow and took him to a hospital where he died.



According to the police, the deceased was Hiroyuki Fujishima (35), a company employee in Toyohira Ward, Sapporo City, and there was a trace of an avalanche where he was found, so the police believe that he was involved in the avalanche. We are investigating the situation.

On the other hand, according to the police, after noon on the 5th, there was a report that "one skier was caught in an avalanche" at "Pekerebetsudake" in Shimizu Town, Hokkaido.



A group of four men and women were backcountry skiing when an avalanche occurred and a man in his 60s was involved.



Police are continuing to search, but so far no clues have been found.
