Six years ago, in a redo lay judge trial for a 48-year-old defendant who was accused of murdering a couple in their 80s and stealing their wallet in Nagoya, the first trial's life imprisonment sentence was revoked. , admitted that there was a robbery purpose, and sentenced him to death as requested.

In March 2017, defendant Hiroshi Yamada (48) stabbed and killed an 83-year-old and 80-year-old couple who lived near his apartment in Minami Ward, Nagoya, and stole a wallet containing cash. was charged with robbery-murder.



The original first trial did not admit that the crime was committed for the purpose of robbery, and judged that it was a crime of murder and theft, and sentenced him to life imprisonment against the death sentence, but the second trial canceled this judgment and the purpose of robbery was sentenced. I ordered the first trial to be redone based on the premise.



In the redo lay judge trial that began at the Nagoya District Court in January this year, the prosecution again sought the death penalty, but the defense argued that the crime was out of resentment toward the victim and that there was no robbery purpose. So, he argued that life imprisonment, which was the same as the original first trial, was appropriate.



In the judgment on the 2nd, Nagoya District Court Chief Judge Satoshi Morishima admitted that there was a robbery purpose and sentenced defendant Yamada to death as requested.
