Of the Omicron strains of the new coronavirus, Pfizer's vaccine that corresponds to "BA.5" has been approved by a subcommittee of experts from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to include children aged 5 to 11.

Pfizer's vaccine for the Omicron strain "BA.5" is used for the third and subsequent boosters for those aged 12 and over, but in October last year, Pfizer announced that it would also include children aged 5 to 11. I applied to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.

At a meeting of experts from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held on the 27th, it was confirmed that vaccination for people aged 12 and over is effective in preventing the onset of the disease, and it is expected to be effective, and it is unlikely that it will affect safety. It was agreed that 5 to 11 year olds should also be included in the scope, as they are considered to be eligible.

This is the first time in Japan that children aged 5 to 11 years are eligible for the Omicron strain vaccine.

The amount of active ingredients contained in the vaccine is scheduled to be one-third that of the vaccine for those aged 12 and over. It is expected to start.

Also, at the subcommittee on the 27th, it was agreed to lower the target age from 18 years old to 12 years old for the third and subsequent vaccinations of Novavax, an American pharmaceutical company.
