Due to the rapid increase in the number of people infected with syphilis, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will set up a free test site in Tokyo next month and call on those who are worried to take the test.

Syphilis is a bacterial infection that is spread primarily through sexual contact and can be treated with drugs, but can cause serious symptoms if left untreated.

Last year, the number of confirmed cases of syphilis in Tokyo reached a record high of 3,677 for both men and women, about 12 times more than 10 years ago, and the number of infected people is rapidly increasing.

For this reason, the city has decided to set up free inspection venues in four locations in Tokyo next month.

Specifically,

on the 3rd from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the "Tokyo Metropolitan Health Plaza Hygeia" in Shinjuku Ward,

and on the 7th from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the "Sumida Industrial Hall" in Sumida Ward.

▽ On the 11th from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the "Tachikawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry" in Tachikawa City

▽ On the 16th from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm at "Parthenon Tama" in Tama City.

Of these, the inspection in Shinjuku on the 3rd is only accepted for women.

To take the test, you need to make a reservation in advance via the Internet or by phone, but you do not need to provide your name or address, and you will be able to know the results on the day of the test.

The city is calling on those who are worried to get tested for early detection and treatment.
