China News Service, Jilin, February 23 (Reporter Shi Hongyu) Jilin City Museum exhibited 32 cultural relics in its collection on the 23rd.

Among them, the bronze sword with double bird heads unearthed locally in the Warring States Period is exhibited for the first time, which incorporates the shape and structure of the Central Plains bronze sword.

Cultural relics experts said that the cultural relics confirmed that the Northeast region had stable exchanges and interactions with the Central Plains civilization as far back as the Warring States Period, and that it possessed corresponding smelting and casting technologies.

On the same day, the Jilin City Museum held the 60th anniversary event, and the special exhibition "Sixty Elegance - Jilin City Museum 60th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition" displayed the above-mentioned cultural relics.

It is reported that these cultural relics in the collection come from multiple historical periods, including the pig head stone carving of Xituanshan Culture in the Bronze Age, the bronze sword with double bird heads in the Warring States period, the Han Changle Weiyang tile, the Tang Bohai double horse decoration, the seal under the door of Song Zhongshu, and the golden double carp pattern copper Fine cultural relics such as the bronze seal of Yingfang Honghua Chief Manager's Mansion in Liaoyang of Yuan Dynasty, the copper seal of Shakyamuni Buddha in Ming Dynasty, and the tea pot with famille rose color and ancient pattern in Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty.

Jin Ximing, Director of the Preservation Department of Jilin City Museum, said that the shape and structure of the bronze sword with double bird heads, the opponent of the Warring States Period, was exhibited for the first time, which is very rare.

It belongs to the category of "Northeast Series" bronze swords, but its shape and characteristics are borrowed from the bronze daggers unearthed in the Central Plains, and combined with the unique aesthetic shape belonging to the Northeast culture.

Cultural relics experts said that this cultural relic proves that the Northeast region had close and frequent exchanges and interactions with the Central Plains region as far back as the Warring States Period, and that it has relatively mature smelting and casting technologies.

It is understood that the cultural relic was unearthed in the 1980s, but due to protection, research and other conditions, it has not been exhibited to the public until now.

Jin Ximing said that this sword is unsharp and exquisite in shape and well preserved. It is inferred that it should be a command sword used by senior military generals, which is of great historical research value.

Another collection of pig head stone sculptures exhibited this time originated from the Xituanshan Culture Period of the Bronze Age in Jilin Province, which has a history of more than 3,000 years.

According to the staff of the museum, the overall shape of the pig's head is based on a proper artistic creation. The maker used exaggerated techniques to make the pig's mouth longer and its ears stand up.

The carving process of this cultural relic reflects the high aesthetic awareness and stone carving art level of the maker at that time, and its use is likely to be the decoration on the scepter—the head of the scepter.

Jin Ximing said that this cultural relic can prove that the residents in Northeast China at that time had realized the importance of pigs or had experience in raising pigs.

On the same day, the intangible cultural heritage exhibition of Jilin City Museum also opened at the same time. In the intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, four special exhibition areas were set up: Baigong Memory, Shiquan Delicious, Colorful Jilin, and Quyi Stage to inherit the characteristic regions through static display and live interpretation. Culture allows tourists to experience many intangible cultural heritage items with Jilin characteristics.
