In November last year, the LRT = next-generation streetcar that was being tested in Utsunomiya City derailed, and the city needed additional construction for the opening of the summer this year. It has been revealed that it will cost more than 200 million yen.

In November last year, an interim report of an expert panel set up by Utsunomiya City and others was compiled regarding the derailment accident of the LRT during trial operation near the east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, and was explained to a city council member on the 21st.

Experts have pointed out that the cause of the accident was that the rails continued to diverge and sharp curves at the site, and at the speed of 13 kilometers per hour at that time, a strong centrifugal force was applied, which seems to have led to the derailment.

As measures to prevent recurrence, in addition to lowering the speed when entering a curve to 5 km / h, it is necessary to improve safety by removing the slope called "cant" installed on the rail to improve ride comfort. I assume there is.

In response, Utsunomiya City has revealed that the construction will cost about 50 million yen, and the repair of the damaged vehicle will cost about 170 million yen.

The opening time is expected to be this summer as originally planned.

Mayor Eiichi Sato said, "I would like to work on it while being conscious of the cost side so that it can be used safely and with peace of mind."
